Testimonials
  • “Thank you for a great workshop. My brain wheels have been churning thinking of where each great activity will fit into our pacing guide.

  • “Thank you for providing such a nice learning experience for us last week. I know it took a lot of time and preparation from each of you!  I am excited about taking all that I learned back to the classroom with me!"

  • “Just wanted to say that of all the many professional development opportunities I have participated in, CATCH Math was by far the very best.  Thank you all so much for the opportunity.”

  • “This workshop helped me relate math in real life applications.  The way the new TN Ready standards are written for Algebra I and Geometry are very big on relating the standards to real=life.  I believe the new knowledge that I have gained through this program will allow me to better relate math to real-life applications.”

About this Project

The goal of the CATCH Math   Project is to raise awareness among high school teachers of non-academic career options in mathematics.  Teachers will have a better understanding of the mathematical content and career-related skills present in the domains of Functions and Statistics

This will be done through creating real-world problems that encapsulate the targeted mathematical content, the effective use of manipulatives, hands-on scientific experiments, and technology.  Moreover, pedagogical practices delivered through the program will model the TEAM approach and show teachers how to develop within their students the critical skills necessary for the next grade level, and eventually college.

Guest speakers will also provide creative ways of incorporating workshop ideas into the classroom, reducing anxieties toward mathematics and statistics, and incorporating valuable exposure to careers students can pursue in the field.
