A 5-day professional development seminar for high-school mathematics teachers with online follow-up sessions to continue the collaboration.

 

"Who will participate?"

24 high-school mathematics teachers.

 

"What is the focus of this project?"

  • Strengthening your mathematical content knowledge in Functions and Statistics.

  • Gaining confidence and skills in incorporating real-life problems into your curriculum.

  • Learning to use new manipulatives and technology to deliver effective instruction.

  • Becoming aware of non-academic career options in mathematics to help advise students accordingly.

  • Becoming better equipped to teach your students with effective pedagogical practices.

 

"When and where will this seminar take place?"

June 19-23, 2017​​

Science and Math Complex, Lee University, Cleveland, TN

 

"What will I receive if I attend?"

  • iPad Air with pre-loaded statistical software

  • Apple TV and digital sensor to display content from the iPad onto a projector screen

  • A yearly subscription to real-world topics lessons resource aligned with TNCore.

  • Copies of materials and manipulatives used in the workshop

  • Daily stipend and travel reimbursement as applicable

  • Three hours of graduate credit

  • A certificate of completion (only after completion of all project requirements, including the workshop and online sessions)

This Project is funded through the Tennessee Higher Education Commission under the Improving Teacher Quality Grant Program.
